The Zuluk Pangolakha Sanctuary, located in the high altitudes of East Sikkim, has recently skyrocketed in popularity as a premier summer expedition for avian enthusiasts. Perched above 10,000 feet, Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary unfolds as a pristine alpine treasure where the winding Silk Route moves through rugged terrain and breathtaking vistas.

Among the sanctuary's celebrated residents is the resplendent Himalayan Monal, often seen foraging along roadsides or perched on rocky outcrops. For many birders, the ultimate prize is the magnificent Satyr Tragopan, an elusive pheasant that moves through steep bamboo slopes and is often first noticed by its haunting, resonant call.
April and May transform the landscape into a vivid canvas of blooming rhododendrons, triggering a burst of avian activity. This is the prime window for Fire tailed Myzornis, a dazzling emerald gem that moves quickly from blossom to blossom, and the gorgeous Fire tailed Sunbird with its long crimson tail feathers.
